“A house built by its inhabitant moves and changes in endless repetition.”
Inspired by the series Zero Yen Houses by Keohei Sakaguchi, I created a series of miniature illustrations depicting the improvised shelters found on the streets of Japan. These intimate, ephemeral structures are rendered in intricate detail, capturing the resourcefulness and resilience of their occupants. The illustrations incorporate recurring graphic elements such as circles, squares, and triangles, symbolizing the fluid and adaptable nature of these makeshift homes. Through these miniatures, I explore the delicate balance between permanence and transience, reflecting on the themes of adaptation and survival within the urban landscape.
